"Season of Rest" AKA Time off
“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
~Mark 6:31
A "season of rest" is something the Lord sometimes has to FORCE US TO Take. Like me for example; I ran myself into the ground "doing good". Well turns out, all that "doing good" turned out NOT so GOOD, I got burnt out and became useless to everyone including to my own self. 😨
The Lord had been gently nudging me all along to slow down, but driven by my passion for helping people, I fell into my own "will"; essentially causing myself to go deaf to the voice of the Lord.
So He sat back and let me crash and burn until finally, He had my attention.
That was just under a year ago. Since then I have heard Him CLEARY instruct me that I was to REST and pretty much do "nothing"; to take time off.
Now one might assume this would be GREAT NEWS, but for me it made me feel invalid, not needed, useless and more.
HMMM...
ALL prideful, egotistical, human emotions that constantly creep up in us time and time again.
You might question my choice of words here but that will be a message/chapter that you'll have to read in my book 😇, too much to get into here.
Long story short, in retrospect I SEE WHY the Lord called me into this "season of rest". It was unequivocally, absolutely, positively NECESSARY. See In order for me to remain in HIS WILL, PLANS, PURPOSE and DESTINY for my life, I had to play by HIS rules...NOT MINE. I had to become equipped and prepared spiritually, emotionally, physically and naturally to move forward into the NEW that He has for my life and Ministry.
So you see how wrong I was giving into those selfish, poor me, pity potty emotions. I had to humble myself to the WILL OF THE LORD and let Him do what he needed and desired to do within me and in my life.
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
Romans 8:28
Now I must tell you, a season of rest is not always easy. Sometimes it feels like you're having open heart surgery without anesthesia 😳.
I want to encourage you today if this is what you're going through, EMBRACE IT! It's GOD "rewiring" you to be successful in HIS perfect will, plans, purpose, and destiny for you personally and your ministry if you have one; whatever it is that's going on in your life that is for the purpose of the Kingdom of God.
Lean on scriptures like the one above during these times and STAN STRONG and IMMOVABLE on your faith.
So the GOOD NEWS is that the season of agony or "rewiring" DOES come to an end (although sometimes it feels like it never will) and then the season of refreshing comes! And ITS AMAZING! Not only do you feel refreshed and renewed but you now have new "eyes to see" and "ears to hear" what the Lord is saying to you and we are he's taking you.
